For generations,
the traditional canning method has been:
Seal your cooked food;
then dip the container in boiling water
before placing on the shelf for storage.
HeaterMeals are cooked in a similar food preparation method called "retorting".
Retort describes a heat stabilization process. The sealed, pre-cooked tub of HeaterMeals food is like the can of chicken noodle soup you have at home.
It has better storage and distribution
qualities than a can, without the weight,
or need for a can-opener.
Like traditional canning, the HeaterMeals
container is filled with food,
then sterilized in big pressure-cooker-like equipment. This process gives
our meals a long shelf-life and
helps retain natural juices and flavors.
That's why Heatermeals taste good!
P.S. Both the HeaterMeals' food preparation
facility, as well as the
packaging assembly line are United States Department of Agriculture
(USDA) inspected and approved.
